Goal: Create a better replacement for existing application to unlock 50’000+ physical doors all around the Denmark.
Outcome: Positive reaction of existing users who using the application on the daily basis to unlock over 50’000+ public and private doors in Denmark.
Bekey is a manufacturer and a provider of bluetooth controlled door locks to manage access to public entrance doors, gates, private apartments, offices, and others. Serving more than 50.000 doors in Denmark and Norway. Bekey users unlock 30+ thousand locks per day, and this number is continually growing.
Company rebranding was a good point to create a new mobile application for couriers, nurses, etc. to open the doors with bluetooth locks.
01. Research
The main personas was a Courier and a Nurse. Each user may have hundreds of keys for the different doors, and the main goal was to improve user performance when choosing the correct door to open.
After user research and comprehensive usability audit of the existing application I created several concepts, it was discussed with product owners, some customers, and other stakeholders and the final design was provided.
02. Explore, Ideation, Evaluation
Extensive comprehensive competitors research was performed and over 12 UX concepts was created to review all the possibilities for door controlling interface.
Variations concepts was presented to the wide group of stakeholders, all the feedback was carefully collected, and final concept was converted into high fidelity designs.
03. Project challenges
Challenge: App purpose is slightly different from competitors, as main users of the application is a delivery, property service personnel, nurses and other people who need to access a lot of door and dynamically receiving a keys based on their job to-do.
That challenge leads to a need of managing hundreds of doors, not only some personal door.
Goal: As a user I need to get access to the correct door out of hundreds, and do it with a minimum of time spent, so I can complete my tasks.
Solution: Essential part of door unlocker app is a smart door list, which showing only the doors which a visible via bluetooth and possible to open.
