Worked closely with product and platform architecture teams to complete re-design of the complex access control platform and its architecture principles. Transferring from “tech oriented” to “user centered” design principles.
01. Project intro (Before)
Initial platform design was created by a technical team, based on feature requests from product leads. Result was a solid product with good technical architecture, but it had a bit clumsy UI and confusing UX. It was used by a lot of customers to manage users’ roles and permissions, view logs, manage physical devices.
02. Process
Challenges: One of the most essential challenges was a need to support a lot of separate modules, and to build re-design process the way it will be possible to migrate platform to the new design seamlessly.
Solution: While results of comprehensive UX and information architecture audit indicated the need of core changes to the platform design. But there was found a good balance behind each design decision to make platform design:
- Have a significant UX improvement
- Feasible in technical constraints
- Consistent across all the modules
- Re-usable for future needs.
03. Outcomes
- Comprehensive modules structure and navigation review
- Unified components re-used across all the modules (design system)
- Significant improvements for table view pages and filtering.
- Universal solution for multi-section objects editor.
